Aaron and Christine Boring sued Google April 2 in Allegheny County, arguing Google’s “reckless conduct” in driving down a private road and publishing the resulting photos caused “mental suffering” and hurt the value of their home. The two are seeking more than $25,000 in damages.

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slowly. After some tense negotiations, the Lakers and restricted free agent guard Sasha Vujacic agreed to a deal Friday afternoon, Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak confirmed.

The deal, according to sources close to the player, is for $15 million over three years.

The 6-foot-7 guard is scheduled to earn $5 million per season.

Hopefully this becomes “official” soon, definitely good news for the Lakers!

During my last semester I started to read up on all the focuses, now that I’ll be starting to take more CS classes than GE. Web programming definitely caught my interest, I had taken a basic HTML course in high school and enjoyed it, and have made a few (very, very simple) websites of my own. Up until now all I really knew was HTML and JavaScript, so I decided to try to not be so lazy this summer and teach myself MySQL and PHP, and it ended up being way easier than I thought it would be, then again I could just be on very basic things… and there could be some complex stuff waiting to pop out. Out of all the “tutorial” sites I found there was one that was just awesome, so I thought I’d recommend it to anyone else trying to learn MySQL and PHP (the website has way, way more than just MySQL and PHP though, also has PERL, Flash, XML, etc). The site is Tizag Tutorials.

I didn’t want to just go through the tutorials without making anything, though, so I decided to think up a basic website that could put this stuff to use. Now this may not really seem… basic… but for some reason it was the first good idea to pop into my head. I’ve always been interested in all those sports “fantasy” games, but they are always crazy complex, whenever I’d try to learn how it works I’d end up on some crazy table with numbers all over it, and close the page before I get dizzy. So I thought up some simple little game, maybe this isn’t “fantasy” sports, since I really don’t completely know what that is anyway, but it’s a game having to do with players stats in each game. Anyway, I decided to label my project “FantasyStats”.

Right now I just have it up on a free host, to get used to managing it on the web rather than on my computer.

I’m not much of a designer or artist, but I’m getting better, I just tried to make it simple. I’m going to be updating it a lot, I’m constantly coming up with different ways to do things, or just new features. I’d also, honestly, like to learn how to make a web template in flash, and use flash for this website, but we’ll see.

It definitely utilizes MySQL and PHP a lot, having to store/display player and user stats constantly, it’s been fun and interesting, and I’ve learned a lot. Anyway, heres a basic explanation (an “overachieving”, and maybe too serious explanation…) of what FantasyStats is:

FantasyStats is a place to test your scouting abilities. Each day, you can choose 1 player from each stat (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals) who you think will go above their season average in todays game. Each day, the FantasyPoints will be updated and you can see how you did. Although I originally wanted to keep the game concentrated on each individual day of games, there are many different highscore lists. There is the daily highscore for user FantasyPoints, aswell as an overall highscore for user FantasyPoints. There are also highscores for which users have the most FantasyPoints in each stat, overall. Lastly, there is a highscore list for what players gave the most FantasyPoints each day, in each stat, to see who you should have picked!

Just to clarify, this is how it works:

Say you choose Kobe Bryant for points, and his season average leading up to todays game is 28.6ppg. The game ends, and he ends up scoring 35 points. FantasyStats will take how many points he got today (35) and subtract his season average leading up to the game (28.6) from it, giving you 6.4 FantasyPoints.

It’s not always a positive number, though. Let’s say you choose Tim Duncan for rebounds, with his season average at 12.0rpg. In the days game, he grabs 7 rebounds. This will give you -5 FantasyPoints.

I chose to do it this way because I wanted people to refrain from choosing the guys with the best averages. You don’t want to choose Kobe Bryant for points every time because he averages so many, you want to do some research, see how the teams matchup and see who might have a big game compared to their average.

Aswell as the hopefully simple interface for this game, there is a forum to talk about basketball in general and to talk about FantasyStats, maybe give some pointers, tell your strategies, and of course brag a bit.

Please comment on anything, if it sucks, bad idea, bad design, already been done, any ideas, etc.

As desperate as the Clippers should be, after losing Brand and missing out on Josh Smith/Emeka Okafor, they sure didn’t have to give up much to get Marcus Camby. They traded a 2nd round pick to the Nuggets for the defensive big man.

The Clippers have a large frontcourt now, with (I’m going to guess) Camby at center, and Kaman at power forward.

But, what were the Nuggets thinking? Supposedly the Nets offered some young players and expiring contracts, but the Nuggets said they didn’t want to take on any contracts. Are they rebuilding? Then why resign Anthony Carter? Are they going to ship out Iverson aswell? They seem to be in quite a limbo, guess we’ll see.

Posey signed with the Hornets.

Artest seems to be getting a lot of offers, but the more I hear him talk, the less I want him to be a Laker. I like his game, but his attitude is just whack.
